these pictures are burned into my mind. they are from one of my favourite food stories, found not in a food magazine, but in my dearly deceased domino magazine, once upon a time. conde nast, the former publisher, decided to put the archives on another one of their sites, brides.com. i’m thrilled to have access to so many amazing decor spreads and articles again, but the first thing i did was pull up this piece: shop once, eat for a week.
of course it’s nice that the story is practical, but the real appeal was that the meals were inspiring and the photos were stunning. i wrote about the food stylists featured in the piece (jamie kimm and alison attinborough) before–it was this spread that inspired me to make a spring soup with baby artichoke halves floating in it. every aspect of these pictures has stayed with me. every time i eat cheddar, i want it to be chiseled off a big hunk like in the rustic styling above.

and how charming is this picture of after-dinner tea and scrabble? i love tea diffuser, the scrabble tiles, the whole story this tells. i’ll stop gushing now and let you drool for yourself.
