Apparently the original dry gin martini called for a lot more vermouth than I think belongs in mine. If a London dry gin is the reason, then I’m anxious to get my hands on some and see for myself.
But even more than this drink in my hand right now, I want that beautiful, curvaceous cocktail glass.
Happy weekend!
Original Dry Gin Martini
1 1⁄2 oz. London dry or Plymouth gin
1 1⁄2 oz. French white dry vermouth
2 dashes orange bitters (preferably Regan’s Orange Bitters No. 6)
Strip of orange peel
In a large glass, combine gin, vermouth, bitters, and 2 cups ice. Stir for 15 seconds and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist a strip of orange peel over the top and drop it in.
Makes 1 cocktail.
