My friend, Christopher, makes the best homemade pizza. I never thought I was shy about toppings–my approach at home is to drown my crust with my favourites out of sheer lack of restraint. But he puts things on pizza that it just wouldn’t occur to me to use. Once, I watched with apprehension as he put raw cucumber slices on a pizza before it went into the oven! Scallions, more types of cheese and mushrooms on the same pizza than I would think necessary–there is no inhibition in his creations. The result: total success, every time. I’ve finally learned to sit back, drink wine and let him do his thing. His pizza flair + excess = my dinnertime win.
