just a few ideas…
…on how to build the best picnic ever.
the best part: everything here can be made or prepped ahead of time, and will probably even be better after a night in the fridge. just assemble when you’re ready to eat. then lie in the sun, devour, sip, read, snooze, repeat.
(all the ideas pictured above, from top:)
a very LA salad (or any other sunny mix)
olives, of course, but how about fried olives
speaking of olives, a bagna cauda is just the dip for crunchy, raw, market vegetables
and do not overlook quiche, easy to transport, great at room temp, delicious with endless options
a strawberry salsa screams summer
cookies, like these or maybe some of these?
the best chips–a picnic must
goodgreat bread and cheese (file under simple is best)leek chips that no one will be able to resist
a piled-high hoagie or another killer sandwich
a sweet, herb-scented cocktail like tequila with tarragon
sweet, ripe mango–spiked with cayenne!
the perfect picnic drink? a strawberry soda, while you still can
avocados smashed on grilled bread couldn’t be easier
nor could hummous, even made from scratch
and i know you know a thing or two about eating on blankets in the sun, so tell me what you’re making and taking! (pictures and links welcome too.)
happy canada day & happy fourth to all of you! safe holidays.
